A GreenLife Cookware Review

Did you know that ceramic is the number one cookware material for people wanting 100% non-toxic cookware? This GreenLife cookware review aims to inform you whether one of the best-selling sets on Amazon is worth the hype.

Ceramic is very on-trend in the world of cookware these days. Health-conscious customers flock towards brands selling ceramic pots and pans due to purported health benefits. These benefits of ceramic cookware include:

  • Better heat retention: less need to cook at higher temperatures.
  • Non-toxic: ceramic doesn’t leach chemicals into your food during cooking.
  • Versatility: most good ceramic cookware brands, like GreenLife, are incredibly versatile and can be used in the microwave, dishwasher, and oven.
  • Thermolon coating: this is a benefit specific to GreenLife. More on this later…

Onto the main review now. Use the below table to quickly navigate your way around different sections of this GreenLife cookware review.

GreenLife Cookware Review: In-Depth

GreenLife’s 16-piece ceramic set at the time of writing has over 16,500 reviews on Amazon with a 4.5 star rating. From a purely numbers standpoint, that’s pretty damn impressive considering how discerning people are on platforms like Amazon. But overwhelming positive reviews often don’t tell the full story.

The company has an entire store on the Amazon website with a full range of products. However, I thought it best for the purposes of this review to stick to the ever-popular, best-selling 16-piece set.

The first thing to report on about this set is the incredible, healthy non-stick coating. Using a proprietary technology known as Thermolon™, the pots and pans in this GreenLife set are free of PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium when heated to high temperatures.

Basically, none of the nasty stuff. The Thermolon is essentially made from sand which is turned into a sprayable solution.

The performance of the non-stick coating is really quite excellent. At one point, I left some rice boiling in one of the saucepans to test it out. My toddler daughter distracted me and I completely forgot about the rice!

Upon returning to the kitchen and smelling the burned rice, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the burned rice slid easily out of the pan with very little mess.

Moving on to aesthetics, there’s no getting around the fact that this cookware looks fantastic. You get a choice of 8 different colors depending on your preference.

The vivid colors on the outside of each piece contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored non-stick interior.

In terms of the contents, you are well-covered for most cooking methods. The full package for the 16-piece set comes with the following:

  • 4-inch mini frying pan (great for eggs)
  • 7-inch frying pan (good for omelets)
  • 9.5-inch frying pan
  • 1 and 2-quart saucepans, both with lids
  • 2.5-quart stockpot with lid
  • 5-quart stockpot with lid
  • 7-inch steamer (for making delicious healthy veggies)
  • 4 kitchen utensils (2 spatulas, 1 ladle, and 1 slotted spoon)

GreenLife for Cooking Thai Food

From a Thai food perspective, if I had to criticize anything about the contents, it would be the lack of a wok. But I’ve yet to find any set coming with a wok so I’ll let GreenLife off the hook here.

The utensils are pretty handy. I always like a cookware set that comes with a ladle, but that might just be an oddity on my part. More importantly, though, the spatulas that come with this set do not scratch the pans.

I remember getting a spatula with a cookware set before and it completely ruined the included frying pan. So it’s nice to see some thought went into that aspect.

And to be fair, I like the other little small touches that make a big difference. One of those is having glass lids so you can see your meals in progress and rectify and cooking errors. The glass stays clear aswell so you can easily keep an eye on your meal.

Another underrated benefit of this set is how easy the pots and pans are to clean. While they are dishwasher safe, all it really takes is a wipe or two with some kitchen cloth for spotless pans. This is a real time-saver.

Pros of GreenLife

Here is a handy summary of all the pros that make this GreenLife cookware review a (mostly) positive one:

Excellent price-to-quality ratio: this is a relatively cheap set but the quality makes it worth more than you pay

Lightweight: these saucepans and pans are great for people who prefer lightweight cookware that isn’t too much of a burden to carry. This is really useful for people with arthritic joints etc.

Non-stick performance: the non-stick performance of the Thermolon coating is remarkably impressive.

Healthy: The propriety Thermolon non-stick coating does a wonderful job while making for an incredibly healthy option.

Beautiful: every component of the set looks fantastic with vivid colors.

Drawbacks

Now, let’s get onto some drawbacks that I feel are important to discuss. I don’t want this to be one of those reviews where everything is amazing and top range because there are some flaws.

The first flaw is that the heat-resistance isn’t as high as it should be. When using a gas stove, you’ve got to be very careful not to have it on too high of a heat. What I’ve found is that these pots and pans can easily burn.

Furthermore, the handles get way too hot at times when using gas. The gas stove does make the bottoms of the pans look ugly quite quickly, which is slightly annoying.

If you don’t have a gas stove, you don’t need to worry about the heat resistance because it’s fine on electric. The second con is not much durability. It’s not that these saucepans and pans will rapidly become useless. But don’t expect to get longer than around 3 years maximum out of them.

Where is GreenLife cookware made?

GreenLife’s products are made in a factory with 30 percent of its energy derived from solar sources. This reinforces the ethos of the company in providing healthy cookware that is environmentally friendly.

During the curing phase of the manufacturing process, there are 60 percent less CO2 emissions than with other cookware materials.

It’s difficult to ascertain exactly what country the cookware is made in. China is a popular destination for crafting ceramic as it’s a world leader in that regard. But with no confirmation, it’s just not possible to know unless you ask the company directly.

Is GreenLife Cookware Good? Final Verdict

If you pressed me to give marks out of ten on this GreenLife cookware review, I would give this set a solid 7.5 out of 10. I think it would be an excellent option for any health-conscious cook who wants a balance between price and quality.

It’s not a set that’s tailored to Thai or Asian cooking, but I can forgive that because I’ve yet to find such a set in all my searches. It would make for a great gift for a beginner to cooking who wants something lightweight and aesthetically pretty.

Don’t just take my word for it though! Here’s a Facebook post I recently saw from someone who bought the 16-piece set and left a review of it on a popular Facebook cookware group.
