This Greenpan Venice Pro review is an interesting one because it’s quite a unique type of cookware. Combining a stainless steel body with a ceramic interior, you purportedly get the non-stick benefits of ceramic combined with the pleasing looks and durability of stainless steel.
But can a hybrid construction really deliver the best of both worlds? Find out.
Quickfire Verdict: The Venice Pro Set has a great non-stick coating, the pots and pans look great, they’re easy to clean, they’re completely non-toxic. The slight letdown is that dishwasher use is not advisable unless you enjoy ruining your pots and pans.
Full Greenpan Venice Pro Review
This is a review of the 10-piece set in the Venice Pro range. You can buy individual Venice Pro cookware; there is an excellent 12-inch covered wok available as a standalone item. The wok does not come with this particular 10-piece set.
What’s in the box?
Included in the set are the following items:
- 8-inch frying pan
- 10-inch frying pan
- 3-quart (2.84 liter) skillet with lid
- 1.5-quart (1.42-liter) saucepan
- 3-quart saucepan
- 5-quart (4.73-liter) casserole pot with cover and straining lid
So, a pretty standard lineup featuring a couple of different sized pans, saucepans, and a skillet. But what actually makes the Valencia Pro set a solid choice for your kitchen?
Pros
✅ The hybrid construction actually works well; you get all the non-toxicity of a ceramic interior with the durability and visual appeal of stainless steel.
✅Thermolon ceramic interior is extremely resistant to damage from utensils and works well as a non-stick coating that requires minimal oil.
✅The proprietary Evershine technology genuinely keeps the stainless steel exterior looking colorful and brand new even after repeated use.
✅Oven-safe up to a whopping 600 Fahrenheit (315 Celsius).
✅Completely free of any toxins or harmful chemicals either in the material or released during cooking.
The hybrid design is what interested me and impressed me most about this Venice Pro set; my first experience using GreenPan products. The tapered rims and classy exterior give that enviable stainless steel aesthetic.
The proprietary Thermolon ceramic non-stick coating works very well and justifies the marketing claims of safety, performance, and style.
In terms of Thai food cooking, this set works well. You can make some really delicious large batches of red curry or stewed pork leg in the casserole pot. The larger stockpot functions well as a vessel for Thai soups such as tom yam. You might also consider the wok that is sold separately.
There are some drawbacks though, which you can read about below.
Cons
✖ Marketed as dishwasher safe but the dishwasher rapidly degrades quality.
✖ Pricy option.
The price of around $500 will put some people off, but for others, you can’t put a price on safety. I personally don’t think this is a big drawback; it was worth mentioning though.
The second drawback is despite claims of dishwasher safety, I noticed substantial degrading on my skillet after I’d put it in to clean when I didn’t have time. I would recommend sticking with the kitchen sink here. Happily, these pots and pans are very easy to clean.
Is GreenPan Cookware Good?
Yes, GreenPan cookware is excellent for health-conscious customers who want toxin-free cooking equipment that offers good non-stick performance. The company was founded in Belgium by two school friends searching for new innovations in ceramic, toxin-free cooking equipment.
Conclusion
Overall, GreenPan crafts some solid cookware that will please fans of non-stick, toxin-free cooking equipment. This Venice Pro set gets my seal of approval. However, you might want to check out the Heritage Steel set if you want pure professional grade stainless steel.
